Getting Pictures Of Animals

Very few people get the full portrait treatment for their pets, but it’s not because they wouldn’t, it’s because they don’t think about it. People love pics of their pets, which is why now is the time to get into the pet picture business.

You have to work fast and be very patient to make the best of this biz. Before you start your pet photography business look into the market that you live in.

The odds are you have a way with pets though. Giving off a good sense of professionalism is a great way to garner repeat and referral clients.

One thing you will need is some backdrops. Empathy is often required in this business. Keep in mind that finding locations is essential, as is keeping a number of special mobile backgrounds. Compile a portfolio of your assignments.

Make sure you market yourself out there to your potential clients. If you create a niche for yourself in this area you will be one step up on your competition. Make or get a clear sign for your business.

But how to do you advertise without the cash of a big business?

The answer to that question is the age-old institution of social media. Jump online and you will in no time make the engaged and partisan interactions you are willing to have. First, jump on top of the trends and get a Twitter, then the Facebook is important too. Make all the connections.

Get out there right now and get this thing started on the low down. It’s like it was made to happen, and it can be. You just need to get in front of the pet people who will pay you the percentages.

The author also regularly gives advice on things such as corner bathtubs and free standing bathtubs.

Pit Bull Attacks Half Wolf Puppy.

Hello. You have seen the scenario where someone is walking in the park with their cute puppy on a leash. As you walk towards it you can see it’s joy in living each and every second as its tail starts wagging at high speed.

The high pitched yip yip yip repeated stops you in your tracks and like everyone else in the park, you turn to see what has happened to the joyful puppy. But your turn isn’t quite finished before you hear the deeper growl of another dog. Instinctively, you wish the puppy well and hope that the situation can be brought under control. You might even move towards the fracas in an effort to help calm the situation down.

There are lots of reasons for bad dog behavior. Some of them logical and some well, not quite as obvious. The dog misbehaving may be a dog that has been ill treated, or it might have a long standing chronic problem like a very bad tooth ache or head ache that it keeps under control until something unleashes it. Or the problem could be partially hereditary as in certain types of dogs being more prone to behavioral problems.

A few weeks ago, as I was petting the head of the dog a few doors down, my neighbor recounted this story about this half puppy half wolf.

About 12 months ago, he had gone inside the house after tying his puppy to the tail of his pickup truck. He estimated it had about 15 feet of slack on its leash. He claims he was only inside about 10 minutes before he heard a shout and the snarl of a pit bull. He ran to his front door and saw this scene.

There, running free of its leash and cutting a line straight towards his big puppy was a vicious pit Bull. He remembers his dog backing up to the vehicle as if to get enough slack in its leash. In no time the pit bull had crossed 30 feet and without so much as a hello, launched itself in the air towards the puppy.

In less than a blink the Pit Bull was high in the air and reaching for his puppy’s jugular. However, his puppy was no longer there at all. Launching itself a split second earlier it was also in the air and much higher than the pit Bull. The pit Bull attempted to twist before it even hit the ground, but the wolf puppy was faster yet and by then had a grip on the throat of the pit Bull.

The half puppy did a very adult thing. With astonishing strength it growled and thew the pit bull about 6 feet away.

I am told that the angry pit bull didn’t have 3 feet properly on the ground before it promptly launched itself yet again at the half puppy. This time meaning to surprise it. However, everyone was surprised when the puppy itself met the pit Bull midway and without ado simply snapped its neck. There was a kind of silence that one hears when everyone is holding their breath.

Time that had rushed faster than anyone could probably recount, suddenly stood still. The only slow movement came from the puppy as it backed to the vehicle, slunk down and looked around.

Its not my position to judge as to what was right and wrong about this. We were told however that the pit bull had attacked a youth in the preceding year and that it and or its owner was under some kind of suspension while its case was being decided. Normally, it would have been put down or something, but witnesses didn’t all tell the same story so…

Who knows, sometimes nature itself is the great equalizer. Everyone there was certain as they told the story afterward, that the puppy was a goner. No one had thought that there was quite that much quickness or wolf like strength and self preservation in that quiet puppy.

How To Clip Your Dog Safely And Easily!

Mot dog owners don’t view the process of clipping their pet as an art. Instead, they’re trying to deal with the problem areas – scraggly hair on the feet that tracks in mud, for instance. In their efforts to get rid of undesirable hair, however, they may forget that they can accidentally hurt their pets.

When you choose to clip your dog’s coat, it’s important to keep breed in mind. Longer hair breeds can suffer if you clip them wrongly. Dust accumulates in the coat, and skin diseases may result. In addition, parasites may more freely breed in coats that haven’t been cared for correctly.

You should also be sure to keep your pet’s nails trimmed to avoid pain in walking and breakage. An overly long mail will have a tendency to turn to the side, and may even grow to puncture the skin. Dogs with too long nails will also easily catch them on things, causing breakage and splitting.

Injuries also easily occur during clipping of nails. The quick of the nail will bleed it it’s cut. This is the source of blood supplying the nail, as well as where the nerves are located. This keeps the nail alive and growing. However, this area is situated far back inside the nail, and will only be exposed if you cut the nail too short or if it splinters. This can be sensitive or painful.

You must always use the right clippers for your dog’s nails and hair – make sure they’re sharp and meant for animals. Human tools won’t work here. You can find quality tools at your local pet supply store.

If you live in an area where it gets cold in winter, don’t clip your dog’s coat during the chilly part of the year. The coat helps protect your dog, and cipping it can increase stress on the animal. Remember that dogs get frostbite the same way you do.

In the summer, make sure you don’t clip your dog’s hair too short. If you do, you’ll be exposing his skin to the sun – a dog’s fur helps keep him cool in hot weather. Shortening the hair is okay, but don’t cut the hair so short the skin shows.

Don’t clip your dog when he or she is ill, since it can stress your pet even more. Clip only when needed to get rid of broken nails or dirty fur.

Walking your dog on concrete daily can help keep your dog’s nails worn down in a more even, gradual way. This helps you avoid having to deal with clippers.

Of course, for the best results, talk to a professional dog groomer with the experience to clip specific breeds.

It’s also important to look into the right dog training tools to make sure your dog behaves like you want him or her to. Click Here for a proven dog training program that is easy to use to improve your relationship with your pet!

The Value And Variety In Pet Strollers

When it is time to leave home, parenting pets is the same as that of parenting small children. They never want us to leave home without them and they want to go everywhere that we do. While they need exercise, it is not always a good idea or possible for them to walk in certain areas. Pet strollers can provide the necessary options for taking our cats and dogs with us and making it a safe trip for everyone.

Although many are considered inside cats and dogs getting out of the house can be stimulating and add variety to their day. The fresh air and exercise can help them to sleep better at night and make them happier and healthier pets. Some unfortunately are unable to walk on their own because of age or possible health problems and this limits the ability to schedule outings for walks.

Strollers are the perfect answer for any dog or cat that needs assistance to get outside the home for health reasons, because they are too small or frightened to walk alone or the area is unfamiliar. Tiny dogs and cats are not the only types to benefit from a stroller because they are available for larger pets as well. Aside from the weight, it becomes important to know the proper dimensions of the pet prior to purchasing.

The area where walks will be taken is important as to which type of stroller to purchase also. Almost any normal four-wheeled stroller will do if the terrain is normal sidewalks and smoother surfaces; these are normally fashioned with small wheels. In areas that have rough terrain or for hiking it is wise to consider a type that can handle it. Select one with larger wheels or wheels that can be changed when necessary.

Several all terrain models are available and are usually made with shock absorbers. The construction on this type is also different and usually much more sturdy. When planning to embark on many new places, this may be the best choice. This particular type is also good as a jogging stroller and is equipped with only three wheels.

Considering the pets privacy can also be important before buying any model. Tiny dogs or cats may prefer versions that come equipped with curtained off sections to the back which allow them to retreat to a private area when necessary. The entire front section is enclosed with mesh for viewing ability.

Many people have more than one small pet and that can be accommodated as well; one can stack on top of the other with no problem. These are made for two pets to be able to stroll together at the convenience of the owner. They are equipped with the same privacy features. It makes a great way to transport pets in inclement weather and keep them dry.

It is important to remember before purchasing the exact dimensions and weight of the pet. If jogging is something that is done on a regular basis, a stroller with three wheels is necessary and it should be some type of all terrain for sturdiness. When investing in the perfect stroller for your pet, they can go with you everywhere and in style.

What You Can Use To Train Your Dog

An untrained dog is not only a threat to his owners and their neighbors and friends and family, the dog that is not trained is also most likely to have a much shorter lifespan.

I recall the story of a neighbor of mine who had a greyhound that did not like to be left alone in the house. This presented a problem whenever the owners left for the store or were away at work. Once when they returned home from shopping they found a bottle of bleach that had been dragged into the middle of the dining room from its storage place under the kitchen sink. What made this incident costly for the owners was that somehow their dog managed to unscrew the cap from the bottle. This allowed the contents to empty on their imported Persian rug. The couple immediately realized they could have saved the $5000 cost of the precious carpet had they sprung for $250 in training fees for their pet. They told me they briefly thought about soaking him in Frontline Plus flea and tick to teach him a lesson, but sanely decided to purchase the services of a professional trainer.

It’s not enough to give your dog its food all the time and to bath it all the time. It’s also not enough to only give it all the love and attention it needs. What is most important is the kind of dog training you give it. With the right dog training, your dog will behave exactly how you want and only do the things that you want.

From time immemorial, that is from way back in history, dogs have always being referred to as “man’s best friend”. Even nowadays, it’s dogs that get the best attention from man than any other animal, especially on a global and general level. To get the best from your dog’s companionship, you should spend the time and money needed to train it very well. A well trained dog will bring a lot of joy, not just to the owner, but to the dog itself.

A dog that is pregnant clearly needs human attention and human touch if it is to give birth to amicable puppies. I have heard that scientific evidence reveals that dogs which are pregnant yet are continuously in contact with other human beings end up giving birth to amicable puppies. If you have any pregnant dog, therefore, a constant rubbing of its belly will communicate the affection you have for it to its growing puppies. And this will go a long way to help in producing healthy puppies.

Getting Your Canine Involved With Agility Training

Agility training is focused upon helping your dog develop the necessary skills to compete with other canines on an agility course. The course includes several contact obstacles (we’ll describe them below) over, through, and across which your dog must race. Each pet has an assigned handler – typically the owner – who is tasked with directing his or her teammate through the course.

The sport debuted in England at the Crufts Dog Show in the late 1970s. At the time, the organizers used a course that modeled the one used for horse jumping competitions. The sport has since become popular on an international scale with competitions held in the U.S., Canada, and throughout Europe.

Below, we’ll provide an overview of agility training, beginning with the type of preparation canines should undergo prior to participating. As mentioned above, we’ll also cover, in detail, the course and the contact obstacles your pet will confront.

Training Requirements For Improving Performance

Any canine in good health can compete, though some breeds will likely be better suited to the competition. Dogs are typically grouped by height to make the race fairer. If your pet is normally energetic, and receives plenty of daily exercise, he will likely do well. On the other hand, a canine couch potato may be ill-equipped for the course.

One of the standard requirements for agility training is that dogs must be at least twelve months old in order to compete. A lot of owners begin to lay the groundwork earlier. For example, they’ll enroll their puppies into professional obedience classes while also taking the time to train them at home. As the pups become more accustomed to responding to basic commands, many owners then enroll them into agility classes.

Obedience training is critical since your pet will be racing on the same field as other canines. He must be able to get along with other pets, and focus on completing the course.

Types Of Obstacles To Expect

A typical agility trial will include several contact obstacles, all of which are completely safe. For example, your canine will be expected to walk across a balance beam; he’ll need to manage an A-frame structure that requires him to walk up an incline, and descend the other side; and he’ll need to traverse a series of jumps.

There are many types of jumps on the field, including doubles and triples (two and three bars, respectively), suspended tire jumps, and long jumps. Before you begin training your pet, ask his veterinarian to examine him for joint problems. Assuming the vet gives his approval, start small and gradually make the jumps more difficult.

The trials also include tunnels. Dogs normally find them intuitive; they know what they are supposed to accomplish. During training, start with a short tunnel through which your pet can easily see the other side. Then, lengthen them. He may be hesitant initially, but treats will provide the proper motivation.

There will also be at least one teeter-totter on the course. A long plank measuring up to twelve feet will be balanced by a pivot. Your dog will be required to run across the teeter-totter, completing it as the far side descends.

Weave polls are common, and may include up to twelve poles. Your dog will be expected to weave through them without skipping poles or knocking them down. The polls may be spaced as closely as twenty inches. This, of all contact obstacles, is often the most difficult.

Most agility trials will also involve a pause box. This is a simple, small square marked on the field. Your canine must arrive at the box, and remain within it for a set time before proceeding to the next obstacle.

Agility training can be a fun experience for many dogs and their owners. As mentioned earlier, prior to getting involved, make sure your canine’s veterinarian approves of his participation.
