Advantage Of Owning A Shih Tzu

Not everyone wants a Labrador or a Beagle or even a Puggle as a pet. It is a fact that some people love Huskies, Chihuahuas, Terriers, Poodles and adorable Shih Tzu’s. The last breed of dog is not one that would suit everyone but it cannot be denied that there is many a future dog owner looking around for a Shih Tzu puppy to buy.

Of course not everyone looking for a puppy starts off with a Shih Tzu puppy in mind, but when fate crosses this adorable puppy across their paths, it seems to be more than they can do to resist the inquisitive faces, the short upturned nose with the hair fanning out in all directions and the gentle adoring eyes staring at them with patent mischief.

Living an apartment life is something a Shih Tzu puppy can handle very easily; this is because if the fact that they love being indoors and can be active in small indoor spaces too. A Shih Tzu puppy is also very indolent and more often than not you would find your Shih Tzu puppy lying in various comfortable positions around your home.

This is the main reason why a Shih Tzu puppy should never be overfed, as they can very easily become fat and lazy. One thing to always remember is to keep your puppy well fed and exercise it properly. If you are currently residing in an apartment, try to take the puppy for regular walks. One thing that you should remember is not to overtire your puppy by taking it for very long distance walks, as the Shih Tzu breed is a small breed and needs only small amount of exercise.

If you own a yard, then you should let your Shih Tzu puppy run a little and play in the yard for a while. A daily walks is a good way to exercise but using this method your puppy is getting regular sessions of exercise throughout the day.

Another thing about Shih Tzu dogs is that they can be very good watchdogs, as they are quite alert and tend to bark if they encounter something out of the ordinary. They do not normally bark out of turn and this is one of the reasons why you should consider getting a Shih Tzu puppy if you are living in an apartment.

You might also like to know that although Shi Tzu’s in general are alright with gentle children or older children, they can be snappish if given the right set of circumstances (like a good old fashioned tail-pulling!) and might not be the most suitable of dogs to have around very young and/ or mischievous children.

One advantage of having is Shih Tzu is that it is the ideal companion for people with allergies to dog hair. This is because of the fact that Shih Tzus’ shed almost no hair and this quality makes them a good choice for people with allergies.

A Shih Tzu is a great show or competition dog. A little bit of regular grooming and nurturing can increase the shine of the coat of your Shih Tzu and can actually make it a champion show dog.

Read This Before Obtaining A Leonberger Dog

For the most part, I am 100% certain nearly all of you are weighing your options and deciding whether to buy this breed of dog. The first thing that I want to tell you is that this dog makes an incredible addition to any family. My least favorite part about these dogs is that their lifespan is about seven years, which if you don’t know is four less than the average for a dog of their size. They are known for their kindness and strength. If you provide them with a suitable diet, they will lead a very healthy life also. Just like any other dog you would want to purchase there are some things to look out for before making the purchasing decision.

One of the 1st issues you need to make sure that your leonberger does not have is aggression issues. An aggressive leonberger is incredibly rare, however still possible. A few of the reasons for any dog to be aggressive are: having a traumatizing experience when it was a puppy, poor training, and last but not least having a mean past owner. Any dog would be at least somewhat aggressive when faced with any of those issues, but we are talking about a fairly large dog so this could get quite dangerous if you ignore the signs of aggression without getting it professional help.

If the leonberger you are thinking about getting is already fully grown then youll need to find out if it has had early socialization or any other form of training. Socialization is particularly needed for if it’ll be around children. You don’t want your dog getting angry at children for not leaving him alone one too many times. To prevent this from happening you should teach the kids as well as your dog how to treat each other. If your dog you are looking at is an older one, you can hire a specialist to make sure it is obediant and get it help if it needs it. This will not be the cheapest in the world but will make your bond with your dog that much stronger. So if you want to avoid this all together find one that’s already around a lot of people.

Compared to other dogs of their size, they require suprisingly little room. They are an extremely active dog, however, and require a walk every day. Even if you don’t have time to take them on a long walk, they appreciate getting out of the house and are much more well behaved because of getting out and getting some exercise. Since the leonberger is such as smart dog, they desire some type of mental stimulation also that may be achieved through various thinking toy for dogs. You can find these at any pet store and should be labeled for brain stimulation.

My final point is that they are an exceptionally loyal breed of dog and are amazingly beautiful, and well worth the additional effort. I am confident that they’ll make a great addition to your family. If treated well they’ll live long and healthy lives and get along very well with children.

Some Important Facts Concerning Mange

When a loved and cherished family pet develops the skin condition known as mange, it can be fairly traumatic. The symptoms are often troubling and must be immediately treated. Almost all mammals are prone to this issue, including humans. If you work with animals or have pets, this is a problem you should familiarize yourself with.

This problem is usually defined as a moderate to severe infestation of the epidermis by a small parasite that is known as mites. These mites will burrow themselves deep into the animal’s epidermis, eating the hair follicles and the oil glands of the animal. These parasite are very easily passed on by basic contact.

The symptoms of mange will become apparent fairly quickly. Domestic pets will begin scratching their itchy skin, often leading to sores and lesions of varying degrees of severity. The animal will become very stressed and will begin losing their hair in patches. They can become weakened and can lose weight. If the condition is left untreated, it can even result in the death of the animal.

This problem is caused by a microscopic organism that is known as a demodex mite. You should understand that these mites are quite normal. However, there are various conditions that can allow these mites to flourish on the host, causing serious problems. For instance, a young animal’s immature immune system often allows the condition to take hold. Older animals, whose immune system or hormonal balance has been disrupted, can also develop this problem. The parasite is easily transferred from host to host through physical contact.

There are actually few options in preventing the mange. Perhaps the most ideal method is an attempt at keeping your pet isolated from stray animals that may have the condition, especially if they appear to have the issue. Proper hygiene is ideal, as is keeping your pet properly cared for and nourished.

There are numerous treatment options. It is important, however, that a qualified veterinarian prescribe the appropriate method, as ideal treatment options will vary depending on the degree of severity. Often, the condition will recede naturally. If this is not the case, veterinarians often advise medical injections or various types of medicated dips.

The mite infestation of the epidermis known as the mange is an unfortunate issue for a pet to have to endure. It is often torturous and difficult to watch. However, if approached intelligently with proper guidance, the condition can usually be cured. Be sure and speak with a qualified vet, as mistreatment of the problem, or a lack of treatment all together, can have severe effects on the animal’s health. It can even result in death.

Dog mange is a pejorative humorously applied to pets, but it is also a uncomfortable skin condition that can be deadly for immature pets. Unless effective mange cream is applied, your pet will continue to suffer.

Yorkies are wonderful animals and make great pets. However, training your Yorkie dog can oftentimes be complicated unless done properly.

Yorkies are the second most favorite sort of dog in the U.S. They seem to be a terribly intelligent dog breed and often learn commands, such as sit, stay, and bring fairly swiftly. Here are a few foundations to follow when training your Yorkie:

Treats, treats, and more treats – Giving your Yorkie a treat whenever they do a command properly is probably one of the most effective actions for training. If you want to try to teach your Yorkie to sit, then put the treat in your closed fist and let your Yorkie smell it, then talk the command “sit” and when they successfully sit, give them a treat. This is an established method, and it makes performing acts a fun time for your dog.

Potty training – Yorkies are really smart animals, but occasionally they want a little extra time to be potty-trained. It’s best to start teaching your Yorkie to go outside as a puppy dog, but if yours is older, it’s ok too. When you see your Yorkie doing their business on the floor, scream loudly “NO”, or “STOP”, followed by taking them to a widely known spot outside. When yours does their business outside, give them a treat and a lot of praise of affection. If your Yorkie doesn’t catch on, consider crate training. Place your Yorkie in a crate in the night and when you leave the house. Only let your Yorkie out when you can manage them.

Distraction Free – Don’t forget to take away diversions when you’re making an attempt to train your dog. Such items as the television, children, phone calls, and so on, can distract your Yorkie from learning. You want a quite place to train.

Punishment – You shouldn’t be physically aggressive to your Yorkie. This may be scaring and create a unfavorable affect on their training. Screaming at them firmly is enough.

Barking – Some Yorkies have a propensity to bark loudly when visitors to the door. If your Yorkie won’t stop barking, try to scream “NO” at them. If this does not work, try to ignore them absolutely. If you’re consistent, your Yorkie will realize he’ll be punished the next time he acts like that.

Yorkies are fast learners and are extremely loving. Be patient training your Yorkie and always give them lots of love.

It is advisable to read the guide on Bulldog Training Tips. So, without wasting time visit training a yorkie.

Cats And Ring Worm

Ringworm is a very common form of skin disease that is found in both cats. Although its name makes you think otherwise, this skin disease isnt caused by any type of worm. Its actually caused by fungi known as Dermatophytes that feed on dead tissues found in the surface of the skin, spreading them around the skin of the animal.

With cats, there is a certain type of fungi known as M Canis that is found with nearly 95% of all ringworm cases. Normally, cats will get the ringworm disease from contaminated objects like bedding, clippers, or another animal that already has the disease. If there are animals in your home or around your house that have the ringworm disease, your cat could very easily contract it this way.

If you have kittens or cats that are under a year old in your home, you should always use precaution, as they are more susceptible to ringworm. Kittens can easily contract the disease, especially if you allow them to go outside. They can easily come in contact with a contaminated object or another cat that has the disease. Kittens take a long time to build their immune system up, and in the meantime they are more apt to get common disease such as ringworm.

The most common symptoms of ringworm in cats are rough or broken hairs, or hair loss around the head or the paws. Ringworm can easily be identified by a patch of scaly skin on the body that appears itchy and inflamed. There will also be broken hairs around the patch of scaly skin. This area is very sensitive, and you should never try to touch it, as it will hurt your cat.

If you notice any of the above symptoms with your pet, you should immediately schedule an appointment with your vet. If the vet diagnosis your cat with ringworm, he may prescribe ointment or tablets. What he describes however, will determine on how serious the ringworm is. If he prescribes tablets to your cat, you should give them with meals. Ointment on the other hand, is normally spread into the coat, topically. You should always use what your vet prescribes on a daily basis, to ensure that your cat heals. The healing process will take time, normally around six weeks or more.

Cats that have ringworm should be labeled as infectious. If you have children in the house, you should keep them away from your pet. Whenever you handle your cat, you should always use gloves. Ringworms are contagious, and you should always use caution. Even though its a mild disease, ringworm can result in serious problems due to the slow recovery time and fact that its contagious.
